Sweden Makes Music 2023

Consulate General of Sweden in New York and Export Music Sweden have, in collaboration with Luger, produced the event Sweden Makes Music to promote and talk about Swedish music and industry in the U.S. The setting is New York, and so far, artists such as Sabina Ddumba, Silvana Imam, Sarah Klang, Cherrie, Zhala and Axel Boman been invited to perform.

This year the event returns after a few years of pandemic-related absence with Deki Alem, Graham Lake and Nea. The venue will, just as previous years, be Baby’s All Right in Brooklyn.

Sweden Makes Music is an annual live showcase event introducing Swedish pop artists to New York audiences at Baby’s All Right in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. This year's featured artists are Deki Alem, Graham Lake and Nea.

DEKI ALEM
Deki Alem might just be the most exciting Swedish act you never heard of. Constituted by brothers Sammy and Johnny, formerly known as BENNETT, Deki Alem has very little to do with the duos previous escapades in rap and R&B and more to do with, well, postpunk and garage. The music is raw, exciting, refreshingly impulsive – all while remaining highly danceable. After a few singles, Deki Alem released their striking debut EP ‘Among Heads’ in 2022 and we can’t wait for the next chapter in this unpredictable story.

NEA
Artist & songwriter Linnea "Nea" Södahl stepped into 2023 with over 2 billion streams as a songwriter and several international awards behind her. Now widely regarded as one of Sweden’s most acclaimed writers, Nea’s credits include artists such as Zara Larsson, Skott and Felix Jaehn among numerous others. In 2019 Nea released Some Say, her first song as an artist in her own right, which catapulted her career to new heights. In 2023 Nea will release her debut album “TRANSPARENT”, produced by Daniel Ledinsky. She will also participate in the Swedish edition of Songland as a member of the expert panel together with Carl Falk, Savan Kotecha & Elias Kapari.

GRAHAM LAKE
There’s always more territory to discover. Graham Lake pushes the envelope as he explores the outer reaches of pop, fashioning an unpredictable and undeniable signature style underscored by guitar-driven production, dancefloor-ready beats, and downright unshakable vocals and his music has already been used in FIFA and Netflix global #1 series Young Royals. The Stockholm-born singer, songwriter, producer, and multi-instrumentalist never stops searching for ways to break the mold as evidenced by a series of 2021 and 2022 singles for EMI and more to come. Don’t sleep on Graham Lake – this artist is bound for glory. Listen ––> https://spoti.fi/3JUwyZG
